The Misfits: Investors Title Co. (ITIC)
An insurance company that has doubled the market and no one covers it? That's a Misfit for sure.
The more and more you read about Investors Title Company (NASDAQ: ITIC), I think you’ll come to the same conclusion as I have. This company and the people involved are almost a caricature of a Misfit stock. It is in a relatively obscure industry (title insurance underwriting); it is a family-owned business with high insider ownership; it is managed exceptionally conservatively; and not a single person on Wall Street covers it. Its one claim to fame is that Markel (NYSE: MKL) owns about 11% of the shares outstanding.
Also, like so many other Misfit companies, it has produced incredible returns for its investors. Even as a $275 million market capitalization company, it has produced market-smashing returns for decades.
Let’s look at the Misfit qualities of Investor’s Title and why that has translated into spectacular returns for its investors.

Disclaimer: I have an affiliate partnership with Koyfin and receive compensation if you sign up via the link above. It helps me fund this endeavor. I would still recommend using it even if I didn’t have this partnership because it’s an awesome product, but I’d be stupid to turn down a revenue opportunity. You get a discount, Koyfin gets new business, and I get a commission. Win-win-win).
